Akira and the Total Tokyo

Description

P.S. The generated title was Aki and the Total Tokyo, but I changed it to Akira simply because I liked the name better.

NOTE: The ‘screenshots’ above are fake, and are not in any particular order (that’s why they don’t make any sense; it’s not any one scene). Turns out no matter how much you want something to be real, that doesn’t necessarily mean it will happen. (cries self to sleep).

Another submission for Seventh Sanctum’s Anime Mania contest. :) I figured since I’m creating a pretend anime, what would be more Anime-Mania-esque than some fake anime screenshots?

Akira and the Total Tokyo (2005)
Genre: Action/Adventure with Comedic Elements

Story of Creation: (for the lulz) Akira and the Total Tokyo was based off a manga made by American artist Ivy Creighton, whose comic was simply called 'Akira'. The anime was put into production in 2005 out of Creighton's basement, using limited tools and resources. The original television show was in English, but soon gained enough popularity where the production was brought over to Japan and translated. Akira and the Total Tokyo is the only popular anime to be translated from English to Japanese, instead of the other way around.

Plot: In Hiroshima in the not-so-distant future, a new drug called Total Tokyo has hit the streets, so named because it can have all of Tokyo hooked within three days if it was eternally accessible. It started out as any other narcotic would; made illegal, and users were prosecuted with for possession and intent to distribute.

That is, however, until the side-effects of the drugs became apparent.

The users of Total Tokyo began displaying strange side effects as they got hooked; heightened senses, speed, and strength were only the beginning. Soon, an undeclared war began between the addicts and the law, and the police were easily overpowered.

Akira, an ex-Total Tokyo addict, has been hired by the police force to use his ‘abilities’ to track and capture users terrorizing the city. Akira’s pigheadedness and general dislike of authority makes him difficult to work with, but his value due to his ‘gifts’ make him an important asset to the force. But when narcotics specialist Chihiro Saito finds a potential motive for taking the position with the police force, questions arise around the mysterious ex-addict.
Will Akira be able to continue working clean for the police, or will he relapse to his old self?

Characters:
Akira: ((Brown hair, yingyang sign shirt))An ex-addict who started using Total Tokyo after being disowned by his family being found (wrongly) guilty for the death of his twin brother. Akira fled the police and changed his name from Isamu Ito to Akira. After a year of being hooked on the drug, he manages to become clean, and goes to work for the police department, but it is suspected he has ulterior motives for joining.

Chihiro Saito: ((Blonde hair, glasses))A narcotics specialist for the Hiroshima police department. She graduated top in her class at Tokyo University of Japan (considered the most prestigious school in the world), with a double major in chemistry and psychology. Growing up with four brothers and no mother, Chihiro is quite a tomboy, and is occasionally mistaken for a man. She is one of the only women on the police force at Hiroshima, and is very keen on not letting people forget it. Chihiro joined the police force after her entire family was killed by drug lord Kyou, except for her youngest brother, who was left in a coma after the incident. Chihiro was convinced by doctors to pull the plug, and she regrets the decision every day. Akira lives with Chihiro, only because he reminds her of her younger brother and he mothering instincts kick in.

Captain Hiro Suzuki: ((Brown hair, suit)) The captain of the police force at Hiroshima. He was the one who hired Akira as a consultant, and took quite a bit of heat from his superiors. When it turns out the idea was quite a success, his superiors let him have full power back so long as they got to take credit. That’s politics for you.

P.P.S. I didn't draw the backgrounds. :D They were manipulated from photos; some were taken by a friend who went to Hiroshima, and some were taken by me, but a couple (the first) was used from on online source; if that is your photo and you would like credit, let me know! I just don't remember where I found it on the internet. ^^;

Very interesting. If I was the judge, I'd make you the winner.
